As I wrote before, below is a list of the countries that stallions by Deep Impact are standing in.

Australia

There was a time when sons of Deep Impact were transferred one after another to Australia.

Not only his children but also some other Japanese horses moved to the country.

Tosen Stardom

Of all of his sons who have moved from Japan to Australia, Tosen Stardom has been the most successful ever.

Tosen Stardom moved to Australia after he ran in the Tokyo Shimbun Hai in February 2016.

When he was four years old, he traveled to the country in the spring and ran in two Group 1 races, finishing 2nd and 5th.

Then, he might build a relationship with connections there.

Tosen Stardom had 14 races in Japan and 6 races in Australia (including the races that he ran in when he was based in Japan).

In Japan, he won two Group 3 races, the Kisaragi Sho and the Challenge Cup. But, unfortunately he could not become a Group 1 winner.

He teamed up with Jockey Yutaka Take from his debut and was expected to win Classic races.

Many fans may remember the scene where he hit the inner railing in the home straight in the Derby.

After moving to Australia, there was a time when he couldn’t participate in races for about a year due to physical condition.

However, in the fall of 2017, when he was 6 years old, he finally won two Group 1 races!

He retired in the spring of the following year and became a stallion at the Woodside Park Stud.

I had the impression that he was slender when he was active, but he now has a solid body that is typical of stallions.

The video emphasizes the goodness of his body and says that his physique compliments Australian mares superbly.

It adds that he was good at running in firm tracks and his children also seem to have such characteristics.

I heard that Mr. Shimakawa, the initial owner in Japan, and Mr. Yoshida (probably) of Northern Farm, the breeder, were still his shareholders after he became a stallion.

The video says that he has collected the most mares among stallions from Japan in the last three years.

I think the film was taken in 2020 or later.

Fierce Impact

The other day, it was announced that Fierce Impact would retire and became a stallion.

Fierce Impact, who turned seven this year, was initially planned to retire after spending the fall season in Australia as a racehorse.

However, unfortunately, he didn’t seem to be ready to run in races and was decided to retire earlier than planned.

As mentioned in the article below, Fierce Impact has won three GIs.

He was also named the best middle-distance horse for 2019-2020.

Fierce Impact is standing at Leneva Park.

The stud entered the stallion business last year, and currently there is only one other stallion besides him.

His stud fee for 2021 is announced to be A $ 16,500 .

In Victoria, it seems that another leading horse who ran well in mile races will become a stallion.

So, it seems that Fierce Impact will start at a reasonable price.

But the game is yet to come.

The response from breeders there is great.

It also seems that good mares will visit him, so I would like to expect evaluation after the birth of his children.

Compared to the fee of Tosen Stardom, the price is very bullish.

 

In addition to them, Real Impact, Mikki Isle, Real Steel and Saxon Warrior visited Australia as shuttle stallions.

Al Ain was also scheduled to go there this year, but it was canceled due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

Saxon Warrior has departed for the country again this year.

New Zealand

New Zealand also has several stallions by Deep Impact.

Staphanos

First of all, I would like to introduce the profile of Staphanos.

Staphanos is in the same generation with Tosen Stardom. They are the fourth crop of Deep Impact.

He was a hot topic even before his debut, and I remember I was looking forward to seeing him in his maiden race.

However, he finished fourth then and I was disappointed.

He won in his third race and won the Fuji Stakes (Group 3) at the age of three.

Looking back on his record, there were really many races that he finished second.

He took second place in three Group 1 races including the one in Hong Kong. Twice in other graded races.

Perhaps he got a good response when he first traveled to Hong Kong, he went there five times.

Unfortunately, he was unable to win a Group one race and retired after running in a race in Hong Kong in December 2018.

After retiring, he became a stallion at

Novara Park Stud, New Zealand.

They are emphasizing achievements of not only Staphanos himself, but also of Deep Impact at their website.

Many of stallions by Deep Impact overseas did not run in races in their respective countries.

At the stage when their crop has not yet made their debut, “sons of Deep Impact” is probably their best selling point.

I heard that 108 mares visited him in the first season.

He could collect many mares even though he was not a syndicated stallion.

Satono Aladdin also visited the country as a shuttle stallion in 2018 and 2019.

Profondo

In March 2023, it was announced that Profondo, who had been active in Australia, would retire.

He will become a stallion at

Windsor Park Stud in Cambridge, New Zealand.

It is a joint purchase with

Mapperley Stud in Matamata.

The other day, a video of his arrival at Windsor Park Stud was released on social media.

In the future, he may move between the two places every few years.

Profondo debuted and won in January 2021.

He won a GI race in his third race.

After winning the GI, unfortunately he couldn’t win.

The main jockey changed, and it was also raining all the time.

He was very unlucky, and unfortunately, I think the trainer’s policy didn’t suit him.

Even so, he finished 4th in Rosehill Guineas (GI) as a three-year-old.

In the Winx Stakes (GI), which he ran at the age of 4, he finished 3rd.

 

 

I had the impression that he didn’t have a positive attitude towards races, and that he hated them.

I think it was good for him to enter the stallion now.

There seems to be no abnormality in his body.

The fact that he has only had 11 races will be a plus for his future stallion life.

It’s a pity that he wasn’t able to fully demonstrate his high ability.

But I hope that many wonderful children will be born who will inherit his good look.

United States

On a page I wrote in the past,

I told you that there should be a stallion by Deep Impact in the United States.

But I didn’t know the details.

I recently got the information, so I will add this section to this page.

The stallion in America is Dowsing. First, I would like to introduce his profile.

I think Dowsing is an unfamiliar name.

This is because he is a horse who could not run in a race.

The Niarchos family, the owner of Study Of Man, has sent their broodmare, Forest Rain to Japan.

Three children of Deep Impact were born, but unfortunately, they, including Dowsing could not succeed as racehorses.

Freedonia, the first crop out of the dam, came to Japan and participated in the 2006 Japan Cup.

She ran in the race with Deep Impact, so some of you may remember it.

Dowsing was unable to make his debut due to a tendon injury during training in France.

Then, he became a stallion at Holden Farm in Indiana, USA in 2017.

An article dated March 6, 2017

in the Throughbred Daily News carried his photo .

Looking at the photo, there is a white spot on his forehead that is similar to the one his sire had.

He was four years old, but still looked very young.

His stud fee for the first year was US $ 10,000 and the fee is now up to US $ 25,000.

This price seems to be quite bullish as a stallion who did not have a race record.

His children have not yet got good results, either.

About 20 broodmares visited him every year.

A newspaper article at the time when he became a stallion also stated that the Niarchos family retained some breeding rights to him.

His second crop will debut this year.

Unfortunately no winner has appeared so far.

I heard that the co-owner of the stud was a fan of Sunday Silence.

Their Facebook page contains news about the success of children of Deep Impact overseas.

I hope that Dowsing will stay healthy and have even one successful child.

Chile

There is Hiraboku Deep in Chile.

Hiraboku Deep is one of the third crop sired by Deep Impact.

He won the Aoba Sho (Group 2) at the age of three.

He also ran in the Derby and Kikuka Sho (Group 1 races), but unfortunately he couldn’t get good results.

After that, he participated in open class races and graded ones, and achieved a record of 24 races for 4 wins.

Then, he retired after running in the race in September 2017.

After retiring, he became a stallion at the

Haras Matriarca  stud in Chile。

The stud seems to be actively disseminating information on Twitter and Youtube.

The amounts for 2020 and 2021 seem to be different, but the difference may be just the one between the dollar and the Chilean peso.

Argentina

In March 2023, it was announced that Satono Flag would became a stallion in Argentina.

First, let me introduce his profile.

Satono Flag is a full brother to Satono Reinas.

Satono Reinas came to top places in classic races for fillies in 2021.

However, unfortunately, she was forced into an early retirement due to injury.

Satono Flag won in his second race in November 2019.

In March 2020, with Jockey Yutaka Take on the saddle, he won the Yayoi Sho Deep Impact Kinen (GII).

It was the first year that the Yayoi Sho race was given the name “Deep Impact Kinen (memorial)”.

After that, he continued on the classic race route and finished 3rd in the Kikka Sho (the winner was Contrail).

He finished second in the Epsom Cup in June 2021.

However, the fracture was discovered after the race and he was forced to take a long rest.

After a year and a half of rest, he returned to the Shirafuji Stakes at the age of six.

However, he developed lameness during the race and had to withdraw.

Then, his retirement was announced.

Originally it was announced that he would became a riding horse.

However, it was later revealed that he would be a stallion in Argentina.

He will stay in

Haras Vacación stud in the province of Buenos Aires.

This stud is the one that produced Balada Sale, the dam of Satono Flag.

Balada Sale was an Argentinian 3-year-old filly champion.

She was exported to Japan after her retirement.

It may be said that the Satono Flag is going home.

It is the first time for a sire by Deep Impact to enter a stallion at a stud overseas where his dam was produced.

A track record as a stallion will be naturally sought after.

However, I think Satono Flag will be treasured as a horse related to the stud.

His stud fee has not yet been announced.

Brazil

In April 2023, it was announced that Vin de Garde would be retiring from racing and entering a stallion in Brazil.

First of all, I will introduce his profile.

He is a half-brother to Sol Oriens, who won the 2023 Satsuki Sho.

Vin de Garde debuted and won in a maiden race in September 2018.

Although he did not run in classic races, he steadily won and entered the open class.

He won the 2020 Fuji Stakes (GII).

After finishing 2nd at the Dubai Turf (GI) in March 2021, his connections found his aptitude for overseas races.

Therefore, he continued to run in races held in various countries.

Until then, he hadn’t had a particularly bad record in Japan either.

Apart from the Mainichi Okan in October 2021, he has competed in 7 overseas races until his last race, the Dubai Turf in 2023.

He raced in the United States, Hong Kong, and Saudi Arabia, but was unable to finish in the top ranks.

However, he finished second in the 2021 Dubai Turf, and third in the same race the following year.

The result has attracted international attention.

After the 2023 Dubai Turf race, he was diagnosed with flexor tendonitis in his left front leg.

Since he was already 7 years old, he was decided to retire.

At the same time, it was announced that he would be entering a stallion overseas.

I thought he was going to Europe because of his pedigree and his results in Dubai.

However, it was announced later that he would go to Brazil.

He will stand at

Haras Old Friends in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

I couldn’t find the stud’s website, so I pasted the link on their Instagram account.

In Brazil, Agnes Gold by Sunday Silence has had great success as a sire.

Vin de Garde is also expected to succeed the sire, who passed away in 2021.

He is going to a distant country, but I hope he is well and doing his best.

 

So far, I have introduced stallions by Deep Impact who are standing at stud in countries outside Japan.

I hear that stallions often move, and the situation will change quickly, such as horses who will retire in the future.

When there are some changes, I would like to make corrections and additions.

As I said before, many of stallions by Deep Impact who are standing in foreign countries now didn’t run in races held there.

Therefore, achievements of their sire, Deep Impact are emphasized at first.

However, if their crop debuts and succeeds, their own achievements will be promoted.

First of all, I hope that they will stay in good health and that they will be loved for a long time at the studs they are in now.
